phenotypo is from Nishinomiya, Japan

Electronics, tape recordings, other recordings, radio snippets, static, dronescapes, soundscapes, ambient washes, digital glitch, a few old synths, a knackered bass guitar, some books.

phenotypo has been steadily reaching its metal fingers into the world for over a decade now, and still drags along some stuff from before even then.

Always interested in collaboration, so please get in touch.

These tracks were influenced by three writers: Barry Hannah with his wonderful collection of short stories, "Airships," a myriad of Donald Barthelme's work of focused American absurdity, and the romantic SF (precursor to Steampunk) work of Michael Moorcock, especially, "The Nomad of the Time Streams."

Japanese: ...You know that the Japanese stage is empty.
Inquirer: That emptiness demands uncommon concentration.
Japanese: Thanks to that concentration, only a slight additional gesture on the actor's part is required to cause mighty things to appear out of a strange stillness.
